DRAM spot market may show signs of bottoming prices

The spot prices for both branded and non-branded DRAM chips spurred on March 30 prompting some analysts to speculate that this may be a sign showing that DRAM spot pricing is likely to hit bottom in the near term.

Prices of branded chips rose by an average of 8% within a single day while non-branded (or effectively tested; eTT) chips also increased by 2%. As DRAM spot prices have been weak in recent days, the sudden price rebound shocked marketers. Some attributed the boost to Hong Kong-based players stocking up prior to the Easter holiday as the major reason,
