Double Fine’s Latest Game Rad Launches August 20

Later this summer a new video game from Double Fine and Bandai will launch for gamers to check out called Rad. The game will land on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. This is the first project that Bandai Namco and Double Fine have worked on together.

Rad is an action role-playing game with elements that will see players lose most of their progress when they die. This sort of game is meant to push gamers to be more careful when playing. Levels in the game are randomly generated reports Venture Beat.

The setting is in a post-post-apocalyptic world that has survived some sort of Armageddon twice. All the characters left on the planet are mutants. The character gains random mutations as you play, so each time the game is played, it feels different from the last.

“We’re almost at the home stretch and I couldn’t be more excited for everyone to jump into what we’ve built with Rad,” said Lee Petty, project lead at Double Fine, in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “One of the best parts of developing Rad has been getting early feedback from the community with the closed beta. I want our fans and future players to know that they’re being heard and we’re going to bring an experience they’ll want to keep going back to.”
