By

George Makris, Corsair Cases Product Manage, took to YouTube yesterday to show off the new entry-level microATX case called the Carbide Series 88R (landing page) that runs $49.99. The case is similar to the phenomenally popular Corsair 100R and 200R cases, but was designed for the microATX crowd that doesn’t want to spend a ton of money.

CARBIDE 88R

The Carbide Series 88R microATX mid tower has all the modern features you need; 4 expansion slots, front panel USB 3.0 header, room for a five 120mm fans (2 front, 2 top and 1 rear), storage drive space for two traditional 3.5″ hard drives and two 2.5″ SSDs is available as well as a front accessible 5.25″ drive bay. The case measures in at 440mm x 198mm x 378mm and can fit both Mini-ITX and MicroATX motherboards. The case is fairly small, but can still fit video cards that are up to 383mm in length, 160mm long power supplies and CPU coolers that are 150mm in height.

The Corsair Carbide Series 88R can even fit a 240mm liquid cooler on the front panel for those that want to water cool their CPU or GPU. Not bad for a steel case that has an MSRP of just $49.99 and is backed by a 2-year warranty!
