CoolIT Systems Files For Patent Infringement Against Asetek

By

Back in 2012 we told you that Asetek was granted three new patents for its integrated loop liquid cooling technology. Asetek didn’t waste much time put those patents to use and went after many water companies selling sealed-loop water coolers over alleged patent infringement. Some of the companies that were served papers included Swiftech, Cooler Master, Corsair and CoolIT. The granted patent that Asetek was using to go after other companies dealt with the general design principle of a mainstream liquid cooling system. Earlier today we learned that Geoff Lyon, CEO of CoolIT, received Patent No. 8746330 for the company’s Split Flow Heat Exchanger technology:

It looks like CoolIT Systems isn’t wasting any time to return the favor Asetek as it appears that they have already filed suit today today claiming that Asetek is infringing on their new patent that was originally filed back in 2008 and approved today. CoolIT claims that Asetek is using their Split Flow Heat Exchanger technology in both the Asetek Gen IV and Gen V water cooling blocks. You can read the full court document here. It’s about to get hot in the water cooling business again!
