BlizzCon LogoToday at BlizzCon 2013, the first round of the StarCraft II World Championship Series started and was exciting from start to finish. And unlike the tourney at BlizzCon 2011, this years tourney started on time and went off without a hitch which was great news for all the StarCraft II fans. Compared to previous BlizzCon’s, this years tourney has also grown bigger. Usually there is only one commentator’s booth, but this year there were three, including three hosts from South Korea. Announcing the play by play action were well known casters such as Day9, Apollo, and Tasteless which kept the games interesting and exciting.

The lineup of the best StarCraft II players in the world had many BlizzCon newcomers to the field along with a few veterans such as Mvp, Jaedong, and NaNiwa. These players were competing for the $100,000 1st prize award and bragging rights of being named number one in the world. One of the most exciting matches today was between EGJaedong and Mvp. Mvp, one of the most successful Terran players with 6 Championship titles was destroyed by the Evil Genius Zerg player Jaedong, 3 – 0. Surprising to say the least!!
