Blizzard has announced that it will be opening a new esports arena in October called Blizzard Arena Los Angeles, the company has a similar arena in Taiwan. The arena will be the place where the company holds all sorts of professional and amateur gaming events. The official opening day for the arena will be October 7 when the Overwatch Contenders Season One Playoffs go down.

On October 13, Hearthstone Championship Tour’s Summer Championships will be held in the arena. After those events the arena will also play host to Heroes of the Storm Global Championship and World of Warcraft Arena Championship. Blizzard’s new digs is in Burbank California at Burbank Studios. There will be a retail store at the arena as well.

That store will sell different items depending on the events being held there reports Polygon. Word is that the arena will have multiple sound stages and that it will have hardware needed for streaming events online. We would assume that the streaming will be via Twitch since Blizzard and Twitch have a streaming agreement in place.

The company won’t hold all its gaming events at the arena though, some championship matches will be held at BlizzCon in Anaheim, California. The arena was originally home to “The Tonight Show. “Were at a tipping point for esports and we look forward to helping usher in a new era of competition-based entertainment,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, in a release. “As we open the doors of Blizzard Arena Los Angeles and welcome fans from around the world, were honored to bring the best in Blizzard esports to the same stage that some of the biggest names in entertainment have called home.”
