Blizzard and Activision Merge in $18.8B Deal

Paris-based Vivendi Games and Santa Monica California-based Activision have announced that they will merge to be called Activision Blizzard. The chief executive will be Activision’s current CEO Bobby Kotick. Vivendi will be the biggest shareholder in the group. The news of this mega merger is sure to send ripples across the net for anyone who has played (or is playing) the likes of WoW, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty. Time will tell how this merger will affect these franchises in the long run.
