BlackBerry Gives Up on BBM Music Service After Two Years

By

BlackBerry sent out an e-mail today to users of its paid music-sharing service BBM Music and told them that the service would be ending this summer. BBM Music, which cost $4.99 a month, will be discontinued on June 2, and subscribers will be given 30 days free access to the Rdio music service. Blackberry wanted to make a users music collection social with BBM Music, but it never got rave reviews. On BlackBerry World the app was reviewed by over 3,500 users and received just a 2.5 star rating out of 5 possible stars.

BBM Music

BBM Music service will be discontinued as of June 2, 2013. For paying customers, April is the last month that you will be billed. In May, as your BBM contacts stop using the service, songs in your playlists will begin to turn grey and will no longer be available. After the service is discontinued, we recommend that you delete the app from your BlackBerry smartphone. Though BBM Music is going away, you can still listen to great music on your BlackBerry. Were giving you a 30-day pass to Rdio, which gives you unlimited, on-demand access to more than 18 million songs, including the latest hits and classic albums.
