Bethesda’s E3 2016 Press Conference
This year Bethesda opened their E3 Press Conference with a teaser trailer of Id Softwares upcoming Quake game, Quake Champions. Bethesda had previously announced that the game will be initially for the PC, and as we know anything can happen once the game is launched. Following in the footsteps of previous Quake games this game will be an arena-based shooter. More details about this game and their planned eSports involvement with Quake will be detailed at Quakecon this August.
Bethesda also announced more information about their upcoming strategy card game, Elder Scrolls Legends. The game is currently in beta and is currently opening up to allow more players to try the game before it goes live. The Game is currently on PC and Ipad but they have announced that the game is coming to Macs, Iphones, and Android devices this year. Next up was Fallout 4 updates. The first major piece of DLC for Fallout 4 is their Contraptions Workshop update that adds track kits, sorting machines, conveyor belts, and other fun items for players to try out while trying to survive the wasteland. This update is coming next week and more DLC is coming in July with their Vault-Tec Workshop update which allows players to build their own Vaults. There are also updates coming to the mobile game Fallout Shelter which is also getting a PC release this year. The update will bring new features to the mobile game such as sending dwellers on quests and new combat mechanics.
Bethesda also confirmed that the Skyrim remaster that has been rumored for the past couple years is finally coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4, and with mod support on console as well. It has been officially titled as Skyrim: Special Edition. It will release October 28th, 2016.
Prey was announced for release some time in 2017. This is a new project from Arkane Studio and seems to be a reboot of the Prey series which originally started in 2006. So far we know it will be a story driven first person shooter and more details about this game will be given at Quakecon this year.
Doom updates and DLC were announced. Free updates to SnapMap will give content creators more tools so they have access to many more features available in the single player campaign such as the weapon wheel and new AI behaviors. For those interested in multiplayer, new game modes such as Doom inspired variants on capture the flag and free for all deathmatch will also be included on all currently available maps. The Paid DLC, titled Getting Unto the Evil, will add new maps and a new playable demon in multiplayer modes. The paid DLC update will be coming in a couple months.
Elder Scrolls Online is getting a few notable updates, including new countries having access to the game such as Japan, New Dlc Based on the Dark Brotherhood, and in Fall the One Tamriel update will allow players regardless of affiliations and level to explore the entirety of ESO. Hopefully this will allow newer players the ability to more quickly group up with the established player base. The Dark Brotherhood DLC is currently out on PC and is coming to console this week.
Bethesda said that they have been working with VR and showed off Doom and Fallout 4 using VR headsets. Fallout 4 has been announced to be coming the HTC Vive next year.
Bethesda spent the longest time showing off Dishonored 2 and their new void engine the game will be running on. Dishonored 2 will be release November 11th, 2016. This will include a regular and collectors edition.
