Barack Obama’s Agenda for Technology in America

By

The White House web site has been updated now that Barack Obama is President of the United States and I found the Technology agenda page to be very interesting. You should check out what he has on the agenda for technology since we all follow it and work in the area. Right now it states that he will work to ensure the full and free exchange of information through an open Internet and use technology to create a more transparent and connected democracy. He also plans to encourage the deployment of modern communications infrastructure to improve America’s competitiveness and employ technology to solve our nation’s most pressing problems — including improving clean energy, healthcare costs, and public safety. It is worth a look if you haven’t read about it before.

His initiatives include:

  • Support the principle of network neutrality
  • Encourage diversity in the ownership of broadcast media
  • To protect children, while at the same time preserving free speech
  • Strengthen privacy protections

Other Goals Include:

  • Deploy next-generation broadband
  • Promote R&D
  • Protect intellectual property
  • Invest in healthcare IT
  • Invest in green technology
  • Advance stem cell research
