ASRock Q1900DC-ITX Bay Trail Motherboard Goes Fanless with DC Power
Olivier over at Fanless Tech shot us an e-mail this morning and through that found out about the ASRock Q1900DC-ITX Mini-ITX motherboard. This is one of the first Mini-ITX boards that we have seen with the Intel Quad-Core Celeron Processor J1900 (Bay Trail) and it looks pretty interesting. For starters the boards embedded processor comes with a passive CPU cooler and that is huge for those wanting a fanless design for silent computing. This can be down since the Intel Celeron Processor J1900 that runs up to 2.41GHz has a max TDP of just 10 Watts!
If you look a little closer you’ll notice that a 24-pin ATX power connector is missing from the board. That is because ASRock designed this board to fit in very compact Mini-ITX cases and ditched the traditional power supply and put a DC-in power jack on the rear I/O panel! ASRock says that the DC-In jack is compatible with 9~19V DC power bricks, but no actual jack dimensions are given on the product page. Since this board runs on DC power it could also be useful to those wanting to build a PC for a car or anything else running on DC.
The ASrock Q1900DC-ITX sports eight USB ports (four USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0), two SATA III 6Gbps internal headers and two SATA II 3Gbps internal headers. There isn’t a wireless networking card on the board, but there is a mini-PCIe slot available for a WiFi card if you didn’t want to use the Realtek powered Gigabit LAN. There is no word on pricing, but we expect it to be below $100.
