Apple unveils new iMacs – $1200 Now Gets You A 20″ Desktop

By

Apple rolled out a revamp of its iMac desktops, revised its iLife applications and added a new spreadsheet program to its iWork productivity suite. The announcements come amid the back-to-school buying season, an important annual sales period for Apple. And they seem likely to shore up the company’s Mac products.

For all but its institutional education customers, Apple is eliminating the 17-inch version of the iMac. For the same $1,200 price, the company will now offer a 20-inch version of its new desktop. Apple is offering three basic models of the iMac, which range in price up to $1,800 for a 24-inch version. The company’s new iLife suite comes with update versions of all its applications.
