AMD to cut dual-core CPU prices ahead of Intel pricing campaign

AMD will lower prices for its Athlon 64 X2 CUPs by 15-30% ahead of a pricing campaign that Intel will launch on July 22, according to sources with motherboard makers.

The biggest price drops will be for its Athlon 64 X2 4000+ and 6000+, which are currently priced at US$104 and US$241 respectively, the source said. AMD will also cut the prices for its single-core Athlon 64 CPUs by as much as 15%, and its Sempron series by as much as 17%, the sources said.
