AMD Radeon RX 5700 Series Graphics Cards Coming July 2019 – Navi GPU

By

AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su is finally ready to talk about Navi GPUs that built using the 7nm manufacturing process by TSMC. AMD is seeing a 25% improvement with regards to performance-per-clock and a 50% uplift in performance-per-Watt. This is thanks to AMD implementing RDNA gaming architecture as they have moved beyond the away from the Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture. AMD first introduced GCN back in 2012, so it will be interesting to see what AMD backed inside the architecture. GCN on Tahiti GPUs brought us support for PCIe 3.0, the Mantle API, AMD PowerTune and more.

The first product to use NAVI will be the AMD Radeon RX 5700 series that is coming out in July 2019.

AMD also showed a demo with an early AMD Radeon RX 5000 series graphics card and said that it was out performing the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card (generally sold in the $479-$509 price range). That might put this card around the $449 price range if we had to take a wild guess without knowing any more than you do. If AMD could get it down to $399 that would really put some pressure on NVIDIA at this price point and performance level.
