AMD Phenom II Procesors Shatter The Elusive 7GHz Barrier

By

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced the Phenom II 955 Black Edition processor back in April 2009 and claimed that it had run as fast as 7 GHz in extreme overclocking tests. The have recently published a video showing that they broke the elusive 7GHz clock speed barrier at a number of public events. We were actually at the AMD overclocking event at Quakecon 2009 and got to see both the Abomination, and the Venom cooler by K|ngp|n Cooling, and the transparent Phantom cooler by LN2 Cooling. If you couldn’t make it to one of the events this summer check out this slick video that was posted up on YouTube last week.

The Saga of 7GHz on AMD Phenom II on Dragon Technology is here. An epic journey taken by overclockers across the land. The third in the trilogy that began with The Experiment and continued with Xtreme Conditions can now been seen by all. Enjoy as World Records are shattered, new cooling methods deployed, and the threshold of 7GHz is crossed.
