AMD CrossFireX – Quad CrossFire Gaming Closer To Reality

Rumor has it that CrossFireX is getting close its launch date as presentations and performance information is starting to leak like an old rusty pipe. Once the AMD 790FX chipset series is launched and the motherboards start to show up on the market next month, we should start to hear more on CrossFireX.
Quad Crossfire X is quoted as upwards of 3x performance, whilst triple Crossfire is quoted at about 2.5x. If we were being snarky, we’d point out to you that you can get 2.5x Crossfire performance simply by loading up with 8800s rather than 2900s. Rimshot please.
