Acer Shows Off Predator Gaming Gear at Computex 2018

Acer is rolling out some of its slick gaming computer systems at Computex 2018. Among the hardware is the Predator Helios 500 (PH517-61) gaming laptop. That machine packs in the latest Ryzen processor and Radeon RX graphics. The Ryzen 7 7200 CPU has eight cores and 16 threads and works with the RX Vega GPU with 8GB of HBM2 memory.

That notebook uses a pair of Acer AeroBlade fans and five heat pipes to keep cool. It has an FHD 144Hz screen or optional 4K UHD 17.3-inch screen. Acer is also showing off the Predator Orion 5000 (P05-100) gaming desktop.

That desktop is also packed with AMD hardware including a second gen Ryzen 7 2700X CPU with eight cores and 16 threads. That CPU is paired with the AMD B450 chipset and up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU. The machine has easy open side panels for upgrades and uses IceTunnel 2.0 airflow management with different thermal zones.

Acer also has the Nitro 50 desktop on display aiming at gamers on a budget with Ryzen 7 2700X processors, Radeon RX 580 or NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPUs. The Helios 500 laptop will land in August at $2,199. The Orion 5000 desktop lands in September starting at $1,499.99. The Acer Nitro 50 desktop launches in September starting at $899.99.
