Cooler Master MM710 Gaming Mouse Review

When we think about a gaming mouse, we think about RGB illumination, fancy swappable side grips, and weight adjustment systems. As for the Cooler Master MM710, it does not include such gaming features aside from the necessities. By necessities, I mean a top optical sensor like the 16,000 DPI PWM-3389 optical sensor, the flexible Ultraweave cable, and a super lightweight design. Cooler Master accomplishes a weight of just 53 grams on the MM710 mouse thanks to the durable honeycomb shell design. With this simple design, players can game for much longer and aim better without much hassle. Priced at $49.99 shipped on Amazon, we will test the MM710 gaming mouse to see how it compares to other gaming mice.

The Cooler Master MM710 gaming mouse comes in a rather small box. It had an illustration of the product with its features and specifications listed around it.

In terms of accessories, we have a users’ manual and a plastic bag with three additional PTFE feet.

The MM710 has a small ambidextrous body design. The design of the shell is made to lower the weight as much as possible while maintaining durability. We can see that the honeycombs look just like the Cooler Master logo; a nice little touch to go along with the brand. Most of the internal components are also water-resistant. The PCBA of the mouse has a dust and water-resistant coating, which prevents major damage from liquid spills. There are a few components, like the encoder and switches, that are not coated. Just try not to go swimming with the MM710.

At the front of the mouse, we can see the cable connects directly in the middle of the MM710. This ensure accurate tracking for both left and right-handed users. The left and right buttons both include Omron switches rated at over 12 million clicks.

On the rear of the mouse, we have a better look at the honeycomb shell. In the middle of the palm rest is the Cooler Master logo. This is where we would see some sort of RGB illumination on the company logo. Because this mouse is aimed towards performance, no RGB illumination is present.

The left side of the mouse, we can see the two side buttons and the additional honeycombs on the side grip. The height of the palm rest is not too high or too small, which will make the MM710 suitable for most gripping styles.

On the right side, everything looks identical to the opposite side except for the lack of the side buttons.

At the top of the MM710, we can see the rubberized scroll wheel and another smaller button closer towards the center of the mouse. We can use this button to toggle between the different DPI levels. There are seven DPI levels to cycle through: 400, 800, 1200 (default), 1600, 3200, 6400, and 16000.

Taking a look at the bottom of the mouse, we can see the PWM-3389 optical sensor is located close to the center of the mouse but just a little bias towards the rear of the mouse. There are also three PTFE feet for easy gliding and tracking. Please note; before using the mouse, there is a very thin layer of plastic over the PTFE feet for protection. Remove them before use.

In the next section, lets take a look at the Cooler Master MasterPlus software to see what adjustments we can make on the MM710 gaming mouse.
