Looking For a Lockable USB System?

NZXT Bunker USB Locking Device

Last month NZXT announced a new device called the Bunker that caught our attention when we read about it. The NZXT Bunker is a lockable 5.25″ drive bay device that keeps not only your USB ports under lock and key, but it also keeps your plugged in USB devices locked up. How does that work? Well, when the door is unlocked and opened you can run your USB cord through the door and when it’s locked the gap for the cord is smaller than the USB plug! This is a pretty ingenious design and it is one of those ideas that you wish you thought up yourself. NZXT says that this is the very first PC accessory designed from the ground up for USB expansion and protection of gaming accessories. We don’t doubt that as it is unlike any other PC security device that we have ever seen and, at just $24.99, the price also happens to be right.

  • Sophisticated 20 Key lock system prevents users with the same device from unlocking your lock.

NZXT Bunker Accessory Bundle

The NZXT Bunker is a very simple device and it comes packed in a brown cardboard box with instructions and a set of keys. The Bunker comes in a plastic Zip Lock bag to keep it from getting scratched up during shipping. The one thing we noticed that were missing were screws, but most people have some extras lying around if they are needed. Most PC cases on the market today have a tool-less drive mechanism for the drive bays anyway, so it is likely you don’t even need them. Even if you used screws the Bunker is plastic and the holes on the sides of the device aren’t threaded. It would have been better to have had an aluminum frame on the bunker with threaded screw holes, but you couldn’t get that for $24.99. As we all know, locks keep honest people out and nothing more. Let’s take a closer look at how this device works.
