Netgear R7500: Speed Tests Second Room

Netgear Nighthawk X4 R7500For this Second Room test we moved our Alienware M17XR4 client with the Netgear R7000 in bridge mode to a second room that was 20 feet away from the test router. There was a wooden double door that we had half way closed throughout all of our tests. For the 1MB data packets we told the LAN Speed Test (LST) application to run 240 successive test packets. For the 100MB data packet, we told LST to run for 10 success ive tests.

Benchmark Results: Looking at the 1MB test data, we see a fairly strong showing by Netgear with their Nighthawk X4 R7500 as their throughput performance competes nicely with Average Read/Write speeds of 349/406 respectively. Again, we have to note that these speeds were an average over a period of time. Maximum speeds were well over 500 mbps and quite consistent with our other top-of-the line 802.11ac routers.

Benchmark Results: Looking at the 100MB packet size, we see the Netgear R7500 performing towards the middle of the pack of our test. Upon further examination, we find that the speeds that the Nighthawk X4 produces (411Mbps Average R/W speeds) that are comparable to the Netgear R7000, Linksys EA9200, and D-Link DIR-880L routers.
