Sandra Memory Bandwidth

The Sisoft Sandra 2010c benchmark utility just came out a few weeks ago and we have started to include it in our benchmarking. Sandra 2010 now comes with support for Virtualisation (Virtual PC/Server, Hyper-V, VMware) and GPGPU (OpenCL, DirectX 11 DirectCompute, but today we will be using the program to look at memory bandwidth performance!

Sandra Memory Bandwidth Graph

Results: Even while in single channel, we see the memory bandwidth of the MSI Wind U230 leads the pack when it comes to memory performance.

HDTune

HDTune is a free benchmark that measures the disk’s transfer rates, access time, burst rate, and CPU utilization when reading from the disk.

HDTune

Results: Here we see nearly identical performance from what we have seen in other netbooks and notebooks that use the Seagate Momentus 5400.6 320GB hard drive. We were impressed that the burst rate was even higher than expected on the MSI Wind U230 as well.

Geekbench

Geekbench 2 is designed as a powerful program which can allow you to measure the performance of your computer’s processor and memory. In addition, Geekbench also offers the Geekbench Result Browser which lets you compare your Geekbench scores with other Geekbench users.

Geekbench Graph

Results: We once again see the MSI Wind U230 dominate its netbook competition in overall system performance in Geekbench. This benchmark even shows overall performance outpacing the MSI X-Slim X340.
