Judge Says Samsung Did Not Infringe on Two NVIDIA GPU Patents

By

We just learned that a U.S. administrative law judge said there was no violation of NVIDIAs patent in a dispute with Samsung and Qualcomm (QCOM). Judge Thomas Pender of the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) said in his initial determination findings that Samsung did not infringe on two NVIDIA patents, and while it did infringe on a third, Pender ruled that the patent is invalid because it was not a new invention compared with previously known patents. NVIDIA originally claimed that Samsung and Qualcomm infringed upon seven GPU patents when the filed suit in 2014.

NVIDIA is going to be asking the full commission to review the determination of Judge Pender as their next step in this patent infringement case. NVIDIA still believes that their patents are valid and that they have been infringed upon by both Samsung and Qualcomm. NVIDIA published a blog post today about the case if you’d like to read more about it.
