ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used today and still very relevant in the SSD world. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.

Benchmark Results: The SandForce SF-1200 based drives deliver nearly the same performance across brands as evidenced by the Phoenix Pro ATTO bench numbers hitting nearly exactly what we have seen from its peers. This is not a bad thing – these drives really cook. The numbers are almost dead on what G.Skill shows on their product page as well.

AS SSD Benchmark

We have been running the AS SSD Benchmark app for over a year now and found that it gives a broad result set. Many testers are using the 4k file size read/write results for the IO Meter benchmark which is an old tool and the AS SSD benchmark essentially shows the same metric in its results set. The programmer worked very hard on this software and continues to make updates often so if you use it, show him some love.

Benchmark Results: Again we see comparable results to the other SandForce controlled drives with the Phoenix Pro posting a very solid overall score. The Indilinx and JMicron drives don’t come anywhere near the overall score numbers.
