Final thoughts of the EVERCOOL Transformer 3

Evercool Transformer 3 CPU Cooler

I will admit, when I first looked at the Transformer 3 I didnt think too much of its looks. I think it is due to the fan that looks like it is stuck in the 80s. Ignoring that part of it, the Transformer 3 from EVERCOOL is a nice little cooler. It is easy to install, works nicely and, most importantly, it’s very easy on the wallet.

The EVERCOOL Transformer 3 is available for $27.99 plus shipping, and with that price point is aimed at the mainstream crowd that is looking to replace the stock cooler but also not looking to break the bank in the process. The Transformer 3 fits that bill nicely. At the stock settings the Transformer 3 was not far behind the Corsair H80 on medium and was almost even with the recently tested Enermax ETS-T40-TA. With the system overclocked to 4GHz the Transformer 3 still held up nicely, coming in at 77.7*C it was just slightly warmer than stock cooling at stock settings.

Evercool Transformer 3 CPU Cooler fan

Like I have said a couple of times, I am not a fan of the Transformer 3s fan styling; it is, however, a nice performing fan. The fan is PWM controlled so when the system is idling the fan is not noticeable at all. When the system was being pushed and the fan was running at 100% it was just slightly noticeable. EVERCOOL has the top end noise level at 35dBA, but I dont think it is that loud. With my Scythe Slipstream case fans running at 100% the fan for the Transformer 3 was just slightly noticeable over the case fans. The Scythe Slipstream SY1225SL12M is rated at 24dBA, and is nice and quiet.

With a little shopping I was able to find the EVERCOOL Transformer 3 for $27.99 plus shipping at Newegg. Being sub $30 it should fit just about anyones budget. At the $28 mark the main competition for the Transformer 3 would be the Corsair A50. The Corsair A50 is similarly priced at $24.89 shipped after rebate and has similar performance, but the A50 is a touch louder. If you are on a budget and looking to upgrade from stock cooling put the EVERCOOL Transformer 3 on the list of candidates. For the EVERCOOL Transformer 3 having a budget friendly price and performing nicely, I am giving it our Value Award.

Legit Bottom Line: The Transformer 3 from EVERCOOL is a nice performing budget friendly cooler for those wanting to move away from stock. The fan style may not be for everyone.
