Parrot AR.Drone 2.0

While at CES, there have to be a few fun items to check out. We caught Parrot’s new AR.Drone 2.0, which has a few new functionalities and accessories over the original AR.Drone.

AR.Drone 2.0

The first new feature of the AR.Drone 2.0, is the GPS “flight recorder.” This gadget attaches to the USB 2.0 port on the AR.Drone 2.0, has 4GB of flash memory, and can capture flight parameters like an airplane. This will help visualize the flights in 3D with the AR.Drone Academy map.

The next feature is the “Director Mode.” This mode allows the user to pre-program automatic movements (traveling, pan, crane, etc.), to help capture those perfect 720p videos. At CES Unveiled, they were demoing this very feature, which looks like it can be entertaining, especially when you can make it flip and do tricks.

Finally, you’ll be able to have fun with this drone for up to 18 minutes, thanks to its high density Lithium-Polymer battery, all while controlling it from your iOS or Android powered device.

The new and improved AR.Drone 2.0 is only listed to be available sometime in 2013.
