BlueAnt Supertooth 3 – One of the Best

BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Driving with Family

The BlueAnt Supertooth 3 is a handsfree speakerphone that supports Bluetooth headset and handsfree profile mobile devices. BlueAnt designed the Supertooth 3 to feature active noise and echo cancellation from its DSP, along with easy operation, with a long battery life. The Text-To-Speech system that the Supertooth 3 uses is certainly unique and sometimes irritating. Overall, I like the Text-To-Speech feature and find it very useful since it allows me to screen calls without fiddling around with the mobile device. I never really used the voice activated dialing/answer since it seemed a bit too Get Smart-ish, but its cool that the feature is there.

Over the course of a week or so, we paired the Supertooth 3 with a number of devices: Treo 650, Treo 750, Apple iPhone, and MDA Vario. Each paired with the BlueAnt device with no problems and did not have to go through a pairing routine as we switched phones around. If you think you might need to use the Supertooth 3 with a number of phones (family members, team members, etc.) you will certainly appreciate how the Supertooth 3 can store pairing information for up to 8 different Bluetooth devices.

The Supertooth 3 is sleek and modern in design and you will be up and running with it moments after you open the box. The Supertooth 3 voice prompts help guide you and assist you through each function from device pairing to uploading your address book from your cell phone. Installation in the vehicle is a breeze and BlueAnt was knowledgeable enough to include multiple sun visor clips for use in multiple vehicles.

Battery life and talk time were simply amazing. BlueAnt estimates you will get more than a month (800 hours) of standby time and 15 hours of talk time on a charge. We certainly werent running to the charger after a couple of days of using this device exclusively.

The noise and echo cancellation were not exactly up to par with the Jawbone, but it certainly did a great job for a speakerphone. Many times I would be in my vehicle (with the windows rolled up) and the person that I was talking to thought I was in my office. Volume from the speaker was increased as well over the older Supertooth Light which makes this new system almost flawless. The engineers did a great job with the Supertooth 3!
