Overclocker.net has posted a very nice guide in getting your Kingston SSDNow V Series 40GB SATA drive to support Intels TRIM and unlock its functionality. Since the Kingston SSD is very similar to Intels X-25-V SSD drive, a few clever people figured out how to upgrade the Kingston firmware to allow TRIM support.

The Kingston 40GB SSDNOW drives feature Intel flash chips and an Intel memory controller. The Kingston V series Boot drives are pretty much identical to the Intel X-25-V SSD drives. Thus why this Intel firmware fix for trim is possible. As such Only Intel firmwares will work with this drive. As Intel gave Kingston the shaft it is up to the consumers to mess around and mod the Intel firmware to support TRIM. Thanks Intel…Thanks
