Introduction

Today we are going to give you a look at the Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4800SE. The past year has been interesting for Gainward to say the least, but the past has been said and done. Every review we have done on the recent 8x AGP nVidia cards leads to a swarm of e-mails about the name and timing speeds so below is a chart that shows the old 4x AGP names next to their new 8x AGP names and speeds.

4x AGP Name

8x AGP Name

Core/MEM

Ti-4200

Ti-4680

250/500

Ti-4400

Ti-4800SE

275/550

Ti-4600

Ti-4800

300/650

The Gainward Ultra/750-8X XP, which is a Ti4800SE, is supposed to fill the spot between the mainstream Ti4680 and the current top performer the Ti4800. Actually, when using Gainward’s Expertool software that comes with the card it increases the core and memory timings from 275/550 to 290/620. So Gainward has enough faith in this card to pump it beyond the normal specs and overclock it from the factory.

For this review, we will look at the performance of the Gainward Ti4800SE versus the Ti-4680 and the Ti-4800. We will also look into overclocking capabilities and the general reliability of the card.
