Intel to offer dual-core CPUs for ultra-thin notebook platform

By

Intel plans to upgrade its ultra-thin notebook platform to include dual-core CPUs in the fourth quarter of 2009, according to sources at notebook makers. For netbooks, Intel plans to launch its Pine Trail-M platform in December, although related products will not start selling in retail channels until the first quarter of 2010.

Intel will replace the Core 2 Solo SU3000 with the Core 2 Duo SU7000; Pentium SU2000 with Core 2 Duo SU4000 and single-core Celeron with dual-core Celeron SU3000, however the single-core Celeron 700 will be kept for the entry-level market, as well as the SU9000 for the high-end market, the sources noted.
