ATI to be first with DirectX 11 – NVIDIA Coming Soon After

By

ATI demonstrated its first DirectX 11 beta hardware and has decided to call its whole DirectX 11 generation Evergreen. The first card is up and running and it was demonstrated a few weeks ago at Computex in Taiwan, doing tessellation. It seems that Nvidia is also working hard to launch its first DirectX 11 in this year. Rumors are floating around that NVIDIA is planning to launch video cards that support DirectX 11 in late Q4 2009. Looks like it will be a rush to get them out the door before the end of the year if the people creating the rumors know what they are talking about.

Many people were reporting that Nvidia’s high end GPU, something that we all call GT300, might be delayed for early 2010. Well we can tell you that this wont happen, but we strongly believe that Nvidia cannot make it in time for the Windows 7 launch. ATI has every chance to launch its DirectX 11 before Nvidia. Nvidia will come just a month or two later, but still in 2009.
