Rumor: TSMC fab shuts down briefly due to power problem

By

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) yesterday shut down production at its Fab 8 in Hsinchu briefly after a voltage drop, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN). Doesn’t sound like it will delay the upcoming chips that we are all waiting for, but it isn’t something we like to hear about!

The foundry managed to resume operations at Fab 8 after two hours of repair, but some of the facilities remained idle, the paper said. TSMC stressed that the shut-down would have little impact on its revenues and product delivery, according to EDN.
