‘Gears of War’ wins top spot in game sales

Microsoft’s gory Gears of War video game, where soldiers slay alien invaders with chainsaw-mounted rifles, topped U.S. sales charts in November. The title, for the software giant’s own Xbox 360, sold 1 million units–the most of any game in November–to ring up sales of $61.5 million, market researcher NPD said Thursday.
The top 10 games, based on sales in November:
- Gears of War (for Xbox 360, published by Microsoft).
- Final Fantasy XII (PlayStation 2, Square Enix).
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii, Nintendo).
- Guitar Hero II (PS2, Activision).
- WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2007 (PS2, THQ).
- Call of Duty 3 (Xbox 360, Activision).
- Madden NFL 07 (PS2, Electronic Arts).
- Need for Speed: Carbon (PS2, Electronic Arts).
- Nintendogs–Dalmatian & Friends (Nintendo DS, Nintendo).
- Pokemon Ranger (Nintendo DS, Nintendo).
