TCL’s Folding Smartphone Prototype is a Trifold Design

By

Since the Galaxy Fold landed back on the market, other smartphone makers are getting their own folding devices ready. The first is likely to be the Huawei Mate X, but another is in the works from TCL that has been seen in prototype form.

TCL’s offering uses a trifold design that folds into thirds. It makes for a thick looking device when folded in handset mode. One thing that CNET reports is that you will see creases when the smartphone is open.

It’s not clear if the prototype will become a real product. TCL certainly won’t want to launch the smartphone until it is sure that fancy trifold design is up to the task.

The specs for the device in prototype form give about a 10-inch screen when opened. It has four rear cameras and a front-facing cam. It charges with USB-C and has no headphone port.
