Fortnite Sued by Teen Credited with Making Flossing Popular

The popularity of Fortnite has ensured that people are looking to cash in on the craze. For Epic Games this means that lawsuits are rolling in left and right. The most recent spat of suits has to do with people who allege to have created some of the dance moves that Fortnite features in the game.

The latest suit comes from a teen called Russell Horning, known as “Backpack Kid” who is credited with making the dance move called “Flossing” a phenomenon in 2016. Horning and his legal team have filed suit against Epic Games alleging that they violated his trademark when they used his signature dance in the game.

Horning isn’t the first to sue Epic over dances in Fortnite. Rapper 2 Milly has filed suit against Epic because of a dance in the game that is similar to his “Milly Rock” dance created for a music video in 2014.

“The Fresh Prince of Bell-Air” alum Alfonso Ribeiro has also filed suit against Epic for using his famous “The Carlton Dance” without permission or credit. Ribeiro popularized that dance on the ’90s sitcom as his character Carlton Banks.
