PlayStation Now Download Option Lands for Most Games

By

PlayStation Now was originally a platform for streaming games from the cloud to your console. Streaming is an issue for some people if their internet connection has a small data cap or if their connectivity is spotty. That means some gamers who liked the idea of PS Now didnt subscribe. Sony has now announced that it is adding a download feature to the service.

Most of the games available on PS Now for streaming will be available to download directly to the PS4 console. If you have purchased addon content or microtransactions, the downloaded games will still support that content. All games that have PS4 Pro upgrades will still support those upgrades when downloaded.

Gamers who decide to download games they have already been playing via the streaming service can transfer those save files from the cloud. Instructions on doing that are here. Sony says that the download feature is rolling out to all PS Now users over the next couple days.

Sony also notes that you will need to connect your PS4 to the internet every few days to verify the PS Now subscription even if playing only downloaded titles. Downloading might not help you with your data cap, but it’s a nice new option. You will need some space on your drive to take advantage.
