NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180 Launch Date Could Be August 30th

Rumors have been going around about the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 11 series of graphics cards for more than a year, but it looks like we are finally getting close to NVIDIA releasing its next generation graphics cards. The latest rumor comes from a YouTube channel callled Gamer Meld. They somehow got their hands on an e-mail between an NVIDIA graphics card partner (an unknown AIB patner ) and a retailer that talks about release dates.

The ‘leaked’ e-mail talks about an “an abundance of unfinished or unsold” NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 series GPUs needing to be cleared before the new GeForce GTX 11 series an be launched. This is the reason the GTX 1100 series cards have been delayed. (Thank you alt coin bubble burst for delaying the next gen cards from coming out) The e-mail also sheds light on what plans to be a staggered release strategy for the NVIDIA Geforce GTX11 series cards that will start at the end of August. The first card to debut is said to be the GeForce GTX 1180 on August 30th, 2018. A month later NVIDIA will release the GeForce GTX 1180+ and GeForce GTX 1170 on September 30th. Then on October 30th, NVIDIA will roll out the GeForce GTX 1160 for the sweet spot of the market where most cards are sold.

  • GeForce GTX 1180: August 30
  • GeForce GTX 1170/1180+: September 30
  • GeForce GTX 1160: October 30

The leaked email includes a partner conference call scheduled for 21st August, which just happens to be the day before Gamescom. This is all very exciting news and what could the GeForce GTX 1180+ be? Could that just be internal jargon for the release of custom partner cards? NVIDIA might release the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180 Founders Edition first and then allow custom cards to be released a month later. Get ready for new GeForce graphics cards!
