XFX Radeon 7870 Black Edition

The HD7800 graphics card series from AMD isn’t exactly new, as they’ve been out for some time now. However, XFX has most recently released their ‘Black Edition’ cards, which feature out of the box overclocked speeds as well as beefier cooling solutions. Today, we’re going to be looking at the 7870 Black Edition Dual Dissipation card from XFX.

The XFX 7870, which is clocked at 1050MHz core clock, is slightly overclocked from the stock 7870 which is clocked at 1000MHz. The memory on the XFX 7870 Black Edition is clocked at 1250MHz, which is also a bump up from the stock 7870 memory speed of 1200MHz.

XFX 7870 Black Edition Card Back

As you can see the back of the card shows us that it has one crossfire connector, which means this card is only capable of two way crossfire. We can also see on the left side that we have two six pin connectors soldered to the PCB. XFX is recommending at least a 500 watt power supply with 32 amps on the 12v rail.

Taking a look at the connectors on the card, we can see that we have a single link, as well as a dual link, DVI, an HDMI and two mini Display Port connectors. We also have the XFX logo cut out for allowing hot air to exhaust.
