Splatoon Anime is Launching August 12 on YouTube

By

Splatoon is one of the most popular new game franchises that Nintendo has cooked up in a long time. The game has a bunch of half-kid, half-squid characters zipping around and trying to shoot what I always assumed to be squid ink on each other. The original Splatoon was a hit for Nintendo and the next game in the franchise called Splatoon 2 is on the way.

Fans of the franchise who also like Anime will be thrilled to hear that about the same time new game lands, a new anime series based on the IP will land too. The new series will launch on YouTube August 12 and will air on the CoroCoro YouTube channel. This is the official YouTube channel for the CoroCoro magna magazine that is aimed at kids.

Each of the episodes that air on YouTube will be shorts that are based on the Splatoon magna strips. If you are a fan of the Japanese CoroCoro magazine, a special Splatoon themed issue will land on July 21 along with the launch of Splatoon 2. The image with this story is of that themed issue.

One important bit to know is that the magna magazine is in Japanese and there is no word on if the anime episodes will be dubbed in English. However, the magna will be published in English with Viz Media working on it for launch later this year. It’s also worth noting that Nintendo has released anime dubbed in English before reports US Gamer.
