Nintendo Switch Likely to Get Additional Wii U Games

Nintendo hit a homerun with the Wii game console years ago when it launched. Despite the less than stellar graphics, the cool controls helped push the Wii to sales of over 100 million units. The followup to the Wii, the Wii U was a flop and sold only about 13.56 million consoles during its lifespan. From all accounts it looks like Nintendo has another home run on its hands with the Switch console.

While the Switch is selling very well right now, there aren’t a huge number of games for the console as of now. However, Nintendo exec Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Switch fans can expect more enhanced versions of games that were originally Wii U exclusives to come with the console. Games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament Deluxe are examples of enhanced Wii U games on the Switch.

These Deluxe versions of the Wii U games have more content and features than the original Wii U titles offered. Fils-Aime says that the low user base for the Wii U means that there are some cool games out there than many Nintendo fans never got to play reports GameSpot. However, the exec notes that there needs to be new content added to the game to freshen the titles and make them interesting for the consumer.

In Pokken Tournament Deluxe, the game gets more fighters to woo Switch fans to buy the game. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Switch has a better battle mode for gamers than the Wii U version offered. The Nintendo exec offered no hard details on what games might follow Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament Deluxe to the Switch. Many are hoping that Super Smash Bros will make the transition, and it eventually will.
