Rumor: Samsung Batteries To Be Sourced From Murata Manufacturing Company

By

As many of us can remember, Samsung took a pretty big hit when they had to recall their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices due to malfunctioning batteries. The batteries would explode or catch on fire. This resulted in a major blow to Samsung’s reputation, especially because they’re one of the leading companies in the Android phone market and no one wants an explosive device in their pockets. As an effort to provide Samsung users with a more reliable phone it appears that Samsung will be switching to a Japanese battery maker named Murata Manufacturing Company. This information comes from a Korean news site: Han Kyung. This means that Samsung is ditching ATL, the supplier of some of the Galaxy Note 7 batteries. Samsung’s own SDI division will be providing most of the batteries as the ratio is usually 4:1 when it comes to Samsung batteries versus third party sources.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Battery Fire

Samsung is looking to put the Galaxy Note 7 fires behind them and will likely be using Murata for some of the batteries in their their flagship model: the Galaxy Note 8. Samsung usually launches a Galaxy S device in February/March and then follows that up with a Galaxy Note model sometime in August/September, so it looks like we might have to wait half a year to find out.

We will soon learn the path that Samsung decides to take as their new phone will soon be released. In the meantime, we can sit and wait to see the next moves Samsung makes to ensure a release of an explosive-free Galaxy Note 8.
