By

Spansion, the flash memory chip unit spun off from Advanced Micro Devices Inc, today announced it has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Macronix International and Macronix America in a US court over its MirrorBit. Spansion (SPSN) has only been on the stock exchange since December 05, but they already have a $100 million suit! Interesting

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court, Northern District of California, requests that Macronix cease and desist its false statements about being an authorized second source for, and fully compatible with, Spansion’s MirrorBit Flash memory products, forfeit its ill-gotten gains, and pay over US$100 million to Spansion in damages for the improper use of the Spansion MirrorBit brand to market Macronix Flash memory products.
