Batteries Get Final Blame For Galaxy Note7 Demise

By

On Monday, Samsung along with independent investigators have come to the conclusion that the batteries used for the Galaxy Note7 were the reason the phones caught on fire and blamed a poor design and manufacturing mistakes.

For the last several months, together with independent industry expert organizations, we conducted thorough investigation to find cause to the Galaxy Note7 incidents. Koh said, Today, more than ever, we are committed to earning the trust of our customers through innovation that redefines what is possible in safety, and as a gateway to unlimited possibilities and incredible new experiences.

The original battery that shipped with the Galaxy Note7 when the phone launched in August 2016 were designed with an outer casing that was too small. This caused the inner components to be squished and that extra tension led some of the phones to short-circuit, overheat and catch fire. Samsung tapped battery suppliers for a new replacement design and those appear to have been rushed to market too fast as they included defects along with a critical component that was missing.
