NVIDIA Titan VR Gaming Headset To Be Announced At GDC?

By

Rumor has it that NVIDIA will announce their entrance to the Virtual Reality hardware market tonight with the announcement of a head-mounted display (HMD) called the Titan VR. Many expected to see Oculus VR, Sony Project Morpheus and Valves SteamVR headsets at the 2015 Game Developer Conference, but NVIDIA looks like they want to ruin their party and get in on the action. NVIDIA jumping into the VR HMD market with a viable product this quickly might come as a shock to some, but not to others. It makes sense for NVIDIA to get onto the VR bandwagon as Virtual Reality is an exciting emerging technology that will most certainly change the way we play games and use the internet. With an NVIDIA branded VR headset rumors rampant on the web we cant wait to see what NVIDIA will really be announcing.

NVIDIA Made To Game

NVIDIA has invited the media and the general public to attend an event tonight ahead of GDC called Made to Game where NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang will be presenting something new that has the potential to redefine the future of gaming. The event will be held at the Nob Hill Masonic Center with the doors opening at 6pm PT and the presentation taking place promptly at 7pm PT. If you cant make the event in person NVIDIA will be hosting a livestream of the event for those around the world to watch the magic happen live from anywhere in the World with Internet access.

I would like to invite you to attend a very special event on March 3rd. More than 5 years in the making, what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming. I look forward to seeing you there. Jen-Hsun Huang

It should also be noted that both AMD and NVIDIA will be presenting in VR sessions during GDC. The NVIDIA session is called VR Direct: How NVIDIA Technology is improving the VR Experience and the AMD session is called Low Latency and Stutter-Free Rendering in VR and Graphics Applications.

Some also think that NVIDIA might launch the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet successor with the Tegra X1 processor. The NVIDIA Tegra X1 is the first mobile processor that claims to have more than 1 TearFLOP of floating point compute performance. The NVIDIA Tegra X1 has 8 CPU cores (4x ARM Cortex A57 + 4x ARM Cortex A53) along with a 256-core Maxwell GPU to keep games and 4K Ultra HD running smooth. No matter what NVIDIA will be launching it looks like it will be something epic as both the VR Headset and updated SHIELD Tablet would be great to see!

Legit Reviews is making the trip out to the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco today and will be attending NVIDIAs event tonight.
