NVIDIA SHIELD Launching Tomorrow – Portable $299 Gaming Device

SHIELD, NVIDIA’s high-performance gaming and entertainment portable, officially launches tomorrow in the United States and Canada. NVIDIA did not send Legit Reviews a SHIELD to try out before the embargo lifts, so we will not be having a review or talking about our experiences with the Android powered gaming device. From what we can tell NVIDIA did not want really in-depth hardware focused reviews on the handheld device, so they opted to focus on sites and blogs that would give overall impressions and video coverage of the SHIELD in action. If you want to get the NVIDIA shield they will be available for $299 starting tomorrow from online stores like Newegg. Just be sure that you have the recommended hardware and software. Here’s the rundown of what you need for the best possible experience:

• GPU: GeForce GTX 650 or higher desktop GPU (Notebook GPUs are not supported at this time)
• CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz or AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz or higher
• System Memory: 4GB or higher
• Operating System: Windows 8 or Windows 7
• GeForce Experience Ver 1.6
• GeForce 320.49 or higher drivers
• Steam Client dated June 20 or later (be sure to have Beta updates enabled in Steam)
• Wireless Routers: 802.11a/g router (minimum). 802.11n dual band router (recommended)

NVIDIA also informed us that they have a number of SHIELD-optimized game titles that just recently have launched; including Riptide GP2, Chuck’s Challenge 3D, Blood Sword: Sword of Ruin, and Arma Tactics.
