How Large Is the Overclocking Community on Intel Haswell CPUs?

By

HWBOT, a website that maintains a database of PC benchmarks submitted by its community, is the go to site for overclockers that are looking to share their results and compete against others in various competitions. The Intel 4th Generation Core ‘Haswell’ processors and the Z87 Express chipset came out about one year ago and we ran across some interesting statistics on Haswell for overclocking at HWBOT that we wanted to share. The folks over at HWBOT crunched some numbers and discovered that there were 32,867 benchmark results submitted with Intel Haswell processors by 2,334 overclockers. This is a pretty good number of benchmarks, but we were a bit shocked that only 2,334 people in entire world are submitting all the benchmark results. We expected that number to be much higher as we know there are a ton of overclockers out there. It just doesn’t look like they are all submitting to HWBOT.

How is the overclocking community doing? Here is a quick look at SuperPi 32M submissions on a wide variety of Intel processor architectures from 2010 to 2014. There appears to be a large spike of submissions when the a new CPU architecture is first introduced followed by a slow decline over the months and years ahead. It is interesting to note that the SuperPi 32M submissions for Haswell declined quicker than some of the previous big launches.
