AT&T Says Apple iPad Activations Up Over 200 Percent!
The Apple iPad Air became available in AT&T stores on Friday, November 1 and it appears to be selling really well. This is a great sign for the economy as the holiday shopping season kicked off this month and electronics appears to be the hot item again this year. AT&T mad the following statement regarding iPad Air sales thus far.
iPad activations on AT&T increased more than 200% over the past three days compared to last years launch weekend, driven by consumer excitement around the new iPad Air and the popularity of AT&T Mobile Share, which lets customers add an iPad to their existing data plan for just $10 a month. We also saw strong demand for AT&T Next, which offers customers an iPad for $0 down on the nations fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network. – Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility
Apple has not talked about the iPad Air’s first-weekend sales figures just yet. Many investors and analysts have been eagerly awaiting Apple’s numbers. Last year, Apple sold 3 million iPads in three days on its launch-day weekend. If AT&T is seeing double that number, could that mean that close to 6 million iPads were sold over the weekend? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
