Zotac GeForce GTX 960 Extreme TOP-X Video Card – The Fastest GTX 960 & You Can’t Buy It

By

Zotac has released a pair of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 video cards that are sure to get the enthusiast community talking due to their over the top design and features. The only problem is that both of the cards will only be released in select countries Asia. That means the majority of gamers will be unable to purchase one of these cards unless they want to take a vacation to China or Hong Kong to grab one of these bad boy cards.

Zotac GeForce GTX 960 Force TOP-XFirst up you have the Zotac GTX 960 Extreme TOP-X (pictured above and below) that was designed from the ground up to be the fastest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 video card in the World! The part number on this card is GTX960-2GD5 Extreme TOP X. The core clock on the Extreme Top-X is 1418-1494MHz according to Zotac and the 2GB of GDDR5 memory running on a 128-bit bus is clocked at 7200MHz. Zotac noted that while the card is 6MHz shy of the 1500MHz mark that there is still enough headroom in the card to easily go beyond 1500MHz on the NVIDIA GM206 ‘Maxwell’ GPU. Zotac keeps the NVIDIA GPU nice and cool thanks to triple 90mm cooling fans on the front over a fairly beefy cooper and aluminum GPU cooler. The carbon fiber sticker on the front of the card was added to boost the cards visual appeal and to ensure that it looks slightly different when you look at the card from different angles.

The back of the card is also actively cooled by two small fans that make up the 3D-Storm cooling module that can be added onto the back of the card. The module snaps into holes on the cards back plate to help keep the back of the PCB nice and cool despite the generous overclock that comes on the card. Zotac says that the PCB is fully customized and has had VRM enhancements to ensure the card is getting the precise amount of power that it needs to matter what. Also, on the back of the card there is Zotac’s OC+ USB module that allows you to connect an included USB cable from the video card to your PC to unlock all sorts of monitoring features as well as control over the memory voltage. The real-time monitoring feature mean you can keep tabs on the 12V power line from the PCIe slot, the 12V power line from the PCIe power connectors, GPU current draw, and memory voltage. This is a goldmine of information for overclockers Zotac has also added three different overclocking profiles, so you can run different settings for say light gaming, heavy gaming and then benchmarking.

The card still has three 90mm cooling fans, but the fans themselves are different if you look closely at the fan blades. The clock speeds on this card are 1253-1317MHz on the core and the 2GB of GDDR5 memory is clocked at 7010MHz.

No pricing was made available to us and it took us several days for us to get these images from the Zotac China team, so information is very tough to get on these cards since they aren’t available in our region and Zotac USA wasn’t given any information on the cards.
