Next week Titanfall 2 is getting a new game mode and fans should be excited about it. The new mode is called Frontier Defense and it will have players working together in squads of four. The quartet of players will be tasked with defending against waves of incoming enemies while they protect their objective.

In this new mode, the objective players will protect is a Harvester reports Forbes. Between the waves of enemies attacking the squad, defenders will be able to place light turrets or hack heavy turrets to give them the edge. The new mode will launch on July 25 along with a pair of new maps or players to enjoy. All this new content will be free of charge to Titanfall 2 players.

Features of the new mode include squads defending against five waves of increasingly difficult enemies. Each enemy defeated will earn the players in-game money that can be spent between waves on items to help them defend their objective. Items include batteries, arc traps, sentries, and other items.

There will be four difficulty levels including easy, regular, hard, and master. Players will also have an Insane difficulty that will be in a separate tile as a featured mode. There are new Aegis Ranks that are earned by completing Frontier Defense matches. These ranks will unlock upgrades for the Titan to help players win at harder difficulties and initially the ranks will only apply for Frontier Defense.

The update also brings new enemy types to fight and the new mode will support five maps at launch including Homestead, Forwardbase Kodai, War Games, Rise, and Blackwater Canal. Additional maps will be added to the mode in the future. The two new maps for the game comgn with the DLC are Rise and Township.
