Study: Kids Glued to TV or Computer Screen at Increase Risk of Cancer and ObesityTue, Jan 08, 2013 - 11:18 AM
Experts are warning the public that even if young people get exercise, sitting in front of the television or computer screen surfing the net could put that at a higher risk for cancer in adult life. Many parents and health experts have long known that being a couch potato and not getting enough exercise leads to health problems such as obesity. The study aims to alert parents to get their children more exercise and participate in more physical activities at school and at home.
A recent study by the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health (BHFNC) found that sedentary behaviour generally rises with age, with a marked increase from approximately 60 onwards. Studies have also shown that women are more sedentary up to the age of 40 but men have higher levels after 60.
