People are crazy for retro gaming gear and software right now, just look at the success Nintendo had with its NES Classic Edition console as an example. For a while back in the day Sega made its own game hardware and the games it offered on consoles like the Genesis were good.

If you have memories of gaming on those Sega consoles, you will want to check out the new Sega Forever ports of some of those popular retro games for the iOS and Android platforms. There are five games for starters and each of them are free to play. The five games include Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, and Phantasy Star II.

The catch to getting all of these retro games for free is that you do have to see ads. If you don’t want to see ads, you can drop $1.99 per game as an in-app purchase and remove those ads. Each of the titles supports offline play, cloud save, online leaderboards, and support Bluetooth game controllers.

Sega plans to add new games every two weeks to keep your retro gaming going for the foreseeable future reports HotHardware. There are certainly enough classic Sega games to launch every two weeks. Gamers who play on iOS also get a free iMessage sticker pack for each downloaded game. I played lots of Sonic back in the day, I’ll definitely be giving that game a try.
